The film "Rocky Balboa", which is made by Sylvester Stallone who also plays the main character Rocky, takes place in Philadelphia and in Las Vegas. It is a drama about boxing.
In the beginning Rocky is sad about his wife's dead who suffered from cancer years ago. Then he meets little Marie in a bar. He helps her to get a job in his restaurant. After that he watches the sports news where a computer-simulated boxing fight between the young Rocky Balboa and the current world heavyweight champion Mason "The Line" Dixon is shown. But the experts don't respect Rocky's achievements. As a result he decides to end his retirement as a boxer and he agrees to a fight against Mason Dixon. Everyone expects a big defeat, but he proves them wrong by showing an incredible fight.
One big filmmaking aspect in the movie is the typical "Rocky Music" which plays in the scenes in which Rocky prepares for the fight. This background music is recognizable.
Another filmmaking aspect is the scene in which Rocky climbs the big stairs. That's the most famous scene in the movie and it already made these stairs to a well-known sight in Philadelphia.
All in all "Rocky Balboa" is an interesting movie with sad moments, but also with action and suspense. I really like this movie and I recommend you to watch it. I give the movie 8 out of 10 points.
I totally agree with MW that it is a great movie i would also recommend others to watch it. Not only the typical “Rocky Music“ and the “Rocky Stairs” are a great aspect in this movie, but also the editing of the movie was well done. Especially the editing of Balbao's last fight was great. They made it look like a real fight in the first few rounds. However, when the 3rd round began, they edited the movie too much in my opinion. They switched the colors from black to white, to a red heavy tone, to normal colors and back to black and white in a fast routine. This was the only scene were the editing was overwhelming and other then that it was a great movie. I would give the movie 8 out of 10 points. DW
I really enjoyed watching Rocky Balboa. It is a brilliant ending for an amazing film series. I also recommend to watch the other movies, like DW mentioned. Apart of the music and editing I want to point out the well staged plot of this film. The old boxing veteran, who has difficulties to get over his wife´s death, but he gets back up and fights for his purpose in life: boxing. It is just fascinating to see someone fight for his goal, despite of obstacles and critics just to prove them wrong. In one point I have to disagree with DW. I personally liked this black/white shots with the red blood stains in the last fight. It underlines the dramatic of the moment pretty well, although the cuts were really to fast. Concluding I want to say that just to hear the song “Gonna Fly Now” (the Rocky music) is worth watching this movie. I would also give it a 8 out of 10. MM
